UFC 242: Khabib vs. Poirier lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon when he takes on interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi on Sept. 7

It will be Nurmagomedov’s first fight since his victory over heated rival Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in October 2018, a bout which saw Nurmagomedov suspended nine months for the post-fight brawls that occurred in the immediate aftermath. Meanwhile, this will be Poirier’s first fight since his interim title win in April at UFC 236, where he bested UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway in a classic contest that saw “The Diamond” snap a 13-fight win streak Holloway came into the fight with.

The UFC 242 co-main event will feature two other noted lightweight names, as Edson Barboza and Paul Felder rematch as they jockey for position among the UFC’s 155-pound contenders. The rest of the main card features lightweight fights, as well as heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Shamil Abdurakhimov in action.The preliminary bouts of UFC 242 will feature Joanne Calderwood, Belal Muhammad, Zak Cummings and more.
